More about the Narrative Change Fellowship

The Narrative Change Fellowship provides funding and administrative support to artists who are directly-impacted by Rikers Island. The 2025 Fellowship cohort is Alex Anderson (“The Time Traveler”), LadyKathryn Julien-Williams (“When Your Protector Becomes Your Perpetrator”), Turquoise Juanita Martin (“Recipes for More”), and Zaki Smith (“In Spite Of”). The Rikers Public Memory Project collects and makes visible the stories of people most impacted by the Rikers Island jails to mobilize action toward repairing its generational harms and interrupting dehumanizing narratives about people harmed by Rikers.
