
“Where Does the Sunflower Go?” is an event of the Humanities Action Lab Free School. The Free School is a collaborative learning space that has grown out of the Rutgers University-Newark course “Newark Community Activism.” Together community organizers, local residents, and Rutgers faculty & students create workshops addressing shared needs by building on their collective knowledges and resources.
“Where Does the Sunflower Go?” was held in the Price Institute Healing Garden and included participatory science soil testing, information on soil remediation, and mutual aid resources.
It asked: How do we care for our ecosystems whether it’s our window garden, our family, or our neighborhood? We’ll learn how plant like the sunflower can help heal our soil and mutual we can help heal our relationships.
